Years ago I had a dream. In the dream I was in heaven. I was given a ruler and told to measure the angels wings. When I turned to look, the only thing I could see were huge massive wings. I felt a sense of defeat and replied, “I can’t because the wings are too big.” When I looked around I saw three sets of different colored wings. One angel’s wings were a very deep, blood-red color, another angel’s wings were black, and the third one’s base color was white with a rainbow iridescent color. I woke up from the dream and meditated and prayed for interpretation.
I felt God wanted to show me just how protected I was from anything that would try to harm me. To understand how truly covered I was by his wings of protection. The different colors revealed to me different aspects of his protection. The blood-red angel’s wings symbolized that I am covered by the blood of Jesus and filled with his righteousness.
Hebrews 10:19 TPT 19 And now we are brothers and sisters in God’s family because of the blood of Jesus, and he welcomes us to come right into the most holy sanctuary in the heavenly realm—boldly and with no hesitation.
Romans 5:9 TPT 9 And there is still much more to say of his unfailing love for us! For through the blood of Jesus we have heard the powerful declaration, “You are now righteous in my sight.” And because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you will never experience the wrath of God.
In the Bible, black symbolizes lack, death, disease and famine. But as I meditated on this angel’s wings being black, I saw that they were there for my protection against all these things.
The white, iridescent-rainbow colored wings, represented God’s promises and covering over my life because I trust in him. The symbol of the rainbow was a covenant sign given by God to all his creation that he would never destroy the earth with a flood again. It was a symbol of his divine faithfulness. Genesis 9:12-13 The rainbow also symbolizes the glory of the LORD as in Ezekiel 1:28 NLT:
28 All around him was a glowing halo, like a rainbow shining in the clouds on a rainy day. This is what the glory of the Lord looked like to me. When I saw it, I fell face down on the ground, and I heard someone’s voice speaking to me.
For years I had a stronghold of fear in my life. It started when I was just a child and grew larger and larger over time. On the outside I didn’t show this fear and just internalized everything. But as I spent intimate time alone with God he began to help me remove the layers and layers of fear that had built up in me over the years. He removed the lies that I had adopted and transformed my thinking to align with the truth of his scriptures.
I once attended a service where a prophetic woman that I admired was going to be ministering. I’d never attended a service like that before and it was definitely out of my comfort zone. But I felt strongly impressed by God to attend, so I asked my best friend to go with me and she agreed to come. I had never been prophesied over and I was one of the first one’s to be told to stand up so she could minister to me. I hated being the center of attention due to my own fear of man. But I stood up and allowed her to speak God’s words to me. At first, she encouraged me greatly with personal blessings from God, but very obviously she had to deal with the stronghold of fear that was holding me back. She said much more that I won’t go into right now, but the next thing she said made a profound impact on my life that I’ve never forgotten. She said, “I see Psalm 91 written all over you.” She looked me over from head to toe. Then you could see in her eyes she saw a vision for me. She continued, ” Matter of fact, I see Psalm 91 rolled out like a scroll and God has rolled you up tight in it!” My mind began racing trying to remember what Psalm 91 was all about. As soon as the meeting was over my friend and I headed to the car. I pulled out my bible and looked up that chapter. The whole chapter contained God’s promises of safety and protection for those who believe and trust in him.
To this very day, that chapter has become one of my favorite passages of scripture. I know that I am fully protected by the Most High God and anything that comes my way. I am completely protected and covered safely under his wings. The dream that God gave me was a personal message of encouragement when I needed it most. But I believe it is a vision for all who believe and put their hope and trust in Jesus Christ. In just the past couple of weeks, we’ve all been witnessing very strange times in our world. I’ve seen so many people reacting in fearful ways. My heart is filled with compassion for them because they don’t understand and see God the way I’ve personally experienced him. So I was inspired to begin writing again. I want to encourage you to look to God during these times of isolation and in the days to come. When all this began, I looked up Psalm 91 and wrote it out in a personalized way for myself. I thought I’d share it with you as well and I pray your heart will be greatly encouraged. Pray it over yourself, your family, and over all God’s children. All people on earth are God’s children, but there are some who don’t recognize him as Father just yet. Maybe in this time of crisis they will look up and call on Jesus to save them as I once did.
Personalized Prayer of Psalm 91
1 I live in the shelter of the Most High and I find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the LORD:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God and I trust him. 3 For he will rescue me from every trap and protect me from deadly disease. 4 He will cover me with his feathers. He will shelter me with his wings. His faithful promises are my armor and protection. 5 I am not afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. 6 I will not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. 7 Though a thousand fall at my side, though ten thousand are dying around me, these evils will not touch me. 8 I open my eyes and see how the wicked are punished. 9 When I make the LORD my refuge, when I make the Most High my shelter, 10 no evil will conquer me; no plague will come near my home. 11 For he will order his angels to protect me wherever I go. 12 They will hold me up with their hands so I won’t even hurt my foot on a stone. 13 I will trample upon lions and cobras; I will crush fierce lions and serpents under my feet! 14 The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. 15 When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. 16 I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”
