Covetousness and pride are weaknesses among my people. These are things that must go. They do not belong among the people that represent me. Where your pocketbook goes, there will your heart be also. Congregations come and go, but those whose hearts are dedicated to me, who dedicate their tithes and offerings to the King of all kings, shall be blessed indeed. Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Your dedication and your loyalty to me are important. Dedication and loyalty are not just words that you say, but action that you take as you give your life to me. The commitment that you’ve made is a life-long one and takes you into eternity. Everything you have has been given to you from me. Your life, your time, your talents and your treasures, are gifts given from me to you. How do you see these things that have been gifted to you? What value do you place upon them? Who has pulled you out of the pit? Who has given you breath to breathe? Who carries and delivers you through sickness and disease? What is it all worth to you? What is the value of one’s own life? One tenth is all I ask of you, yet am I LORD of your life?
The cravings and desires of this world crowd your thoughts too much. These are temporary things that are here and gone in a day. Happiness, contentment, and joy, cannot be bought that would last a lifetime. But a life situated in me provides security and joy divine for all eternity. You cannot serve two masters and be divided all the time. Choose this day whom you will serve and walk that life into eternity. I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Nothing will ever truly be accomplished in your life if you refuse to follow me. I give you the choice to make, it’s up to you. But if you choose to walk with me, you must give up your life for me.
This is the way of YAHWEH; to lay down your life in service to me. This is the life I’m calling you to, but it requires commitment from you. I love you from everlasting to everlasting and my commitment to you stands strong. By giving your life in service to me, you will reap a blessing too large for you to comprehend. I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. Your life begins and ends in me, but you have to decide what to do in the middle. I am with you always, so let your heart rest in me. You will reap what you sow, and as you stay committed to me, I will bless you richly at the time of harvest.
Matthew 6:19-21 The Passion Translation
19 “Don’t keep hoarding for yourselves earthly treasures that can be stolen by thieves. Material wealth eventually rusts, decays, and loses its value. 20 Instead, stockpile heavenly treasures for yourselves that cannot be stolen and will never rust, decay, or lose their value. 21 For your heart will always pursue what you esteem as your treasure.
James 1:17 The Passion Translation
17 Every gift God freely gives us is good and perfect, streaming down from the Father of lights, who shines from the heavens with no hidden shadow or darkness and is never subject to change.
Luke 16:13 The Passion Translation
13 It is impossible for a person to serve two masters at the same time. You will be forced to love one and reject the other. One master will be despised and the other will have your loyal devotion. Your choice between God and the wealth of this world[a] is no different. You must enthusiastically love one and definitively reject the other.”
Footnotes
- 16:13 The word used here is Mammon, which is money personified as a god and worshiped.
Matthew 6:24 The Passion Translation
24 “How could you worship two gods at the same time? You will have to hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t worship the true God while enslaved to the god of money!” [a]
Footnotes
- 6:24 Or “God and mammon.” Mammon is an Aramaic term for money. See 1 Tim. 6:6–10. There is found after v. 24 a part of the agrapha that reads, “If you do not fast from the world, you will never discover the kingdom of God” (Oxyrhyncus Papyrus 655, pOxy 1:4–11).
Galatians 6:7-9 The Passion Translation
7 God will never be mocked! For what you plant will always be the very thing you harvest. 8 The harvest you reap reveals the seed that you planted. If you plant the corrupt seeds of self-life into this natural realm, you can expect a harvest of corruption. If you plant the good seeds of Spirit-life you will reap beautiful fruits that grow from the everlasting life of the Spirit. 9 And don’t allow yourselves to be weary in planting good seeds, for the season of reaping the wonderful harvest you’ve planted is coming!
