Come closer than ever and hear what I have to say, for I have much to say in this hour. My children do not heed what I have to say. They ignore my commands and choose to live their own way. What good is my protection if they choose to live their own way? They turn their heads and go the opposite direction that I am directing them to go.
Where is your heart if you are not following close after me? Where does your loyalty lie? With me – or the father of lies? How long will you wander away from me? I call upon your heart time after time, yet you pull away from me to do what pleases only you. Your heart is not for me and you push back on my plans for you. Where does your loyalty lie? Choose this day whom you will follow.
**Then I heard only one word after these words from the LORD:
“RECOMPENSE”
Definition:
1. To give something to by way of compensation (as for a service rendered or damage incurred). To pay for.
2. A payback, a just reward or divine punishment when living in self-government. Compensation corresponding to a particular decision (action). Payment of wages due. Requital (good or bad) of reward.
Hebrews 2:1-3 King James Version
Therefore, we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 2 For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him.
The Passion Translation and Commentary:
2 This is why it is so crucial that we be all the more engaged and attentive to the truths that we have heard so that we do not drift off course. 2 For if the message of the law spoken and confirmed by angels brought a just penalty to every disobedient violation; 3 then how would we expect to escape punishment if we despise the very truths that give us life?
Deuteronomy 32:35 English Standard Version
Vengeance is mine, and recompense,[a] for the time when their foot shall slip;
for the day of their calamity is at hand, and their doom comes swiftly.’
